ClassDojo
Class Dojo is a popular tool for schools. It helps to assess how well children behave, how much homework they do, and how detailed their answers at the lessons are. It is designed mostly for the teachers who interact with small children: the application has bright colors and a very intuitive interface. Class Dojo is more than just a behavior management system; it has evolved into a playful rating system that helps youngsters to build a stronger character.
Features
Class Dojo’s main goal is to enhance communication between school and home, providing a system that both parents and teachers can use. It has a point system with “Dojo points” and a special chat just for teachers and parents.
Firstly, teachers can set up their own grade system according to their teaching strategy. Already in-built grades in Class Dojo divide into positive and negative. For example, positive grades might be “teamwork”, “perseverance”, “on task”, “participating”, “working hard”. And negatives are “unprepared”, “off-task”, “ no homework”, “disrespect”, “talking out of turn”. If you are completely new to technology and such interactive assessment systems, do not worry. Class Dojo has a plethora of resources for teachers with some cheat sheets to learn basics faster. The same applies to parents too.
Teachers can engage parents in studying life by posting pictures, videos, and announcements directly in the Class Dojo. Also, the messenger in the app is very fast, simple, and secure. What is more important is that you can manage notifications as versatile as it could possibly be, so no more of the night time messages into the school chat group.
How to use it
Anybody can use Class Dojo for free, and it is already translated into multiple languages and is used in 180 countries. The tutorials are easily found in the Android application or on the Class Dojo websites. They are available both in written format or as a video.
Setting up a classroom takes four steps. First, you create a classroom with a unique name. Then you add your students to the classroom. Now it is time to decide whether you stick to a built-in grade system or create your own grades. You are almost done, just send a link to the classroom to your students. The avatars of your students are randomly generated but later they can change it. Also, do not be afraid to copy and paste a list with the students’ names into an “add participants” window. The system will easily recognize such lists. There is no limit to the amount of created classrooms.
